Vitter Announces $1.3 Million for Chennault International Airport Runway Restoration

U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will award $1,381,970 in federal grants to the Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles, La. for repairs to one of its runways.

"The Chennault International Airport plays a major role in the Lake Charles economy and the rapid growth here, which is why updating and maintaining its infrastructure is so important," said Vitter. "This grant will update the airport's infrastructure, better protecting the safety of all aircraft pilots and crew members.

The Chennault International Airport is a public airport that maintains, supports and repairs both commercial and military aircrafts. The current version of the airport, which opened in 1986, has made a large economic impact in Calcasieu Parish and provides services to companies such as Northrop Grumman and Million Air.
